Domaine des Vignes — Region

Located at Vernoil le Fourrier in the Anjou region, close to the Touraine border, Domaine des Vignes provides a peaceful, secluded base from which to explore the beautiful and diverse Loire Valley.

Nearby towns include Bourgueil and Chinon. The ancient town of Saumur, located approximately ten miles north of Vernoil, has many shops and restaurants, as well as the imposing château perched above the river Loire (see image on left).

The gîtes are within an easy drive of the airport at Tours (the capital of Touraine), located just thirty miles east of Vernoil.

Angers and Tours are about 45 minutes away and both are large cities with all expected facilities. Both have beautiful historical buildings and Châteaux.

The Western Loire is ideal for family holidays — whether young or old there is plenty for everyone to enjoy.

Visit Troglo (underground homes), the zoo, gardens, get on your bike, saddle up, or simply stroll along the paths and trails of the Loire. You can explore the vineyards of Anjou, pedal past the meadows of the Sarthe and Mayenne or ride through the forests.

Nicknamed the “River of Kings” the Loire is the longest and grandest river in France. Along its banks are historic towns and cities and some of the most famous vineyards in the world.
